Capabilities · engine capability tree

What the engine behind this site can actually do, stated in three layers and counted live from the engine itself: 105 modules and 515 study switches in five engineering categories, every sub-category linked to the page where you can use it. Steady state is the mainstay, device- and event-level transients are included, and what is deliberately not done is listed as well.

How this list is defined

The simulation and sizing capabilities on this site come from the power-system engine used internally byQDTB, the engine that QDTB's engineering department uses as a simulation tool to guide the production of electrical equipment. Limited by the hardware capacity and computing cost of a web server, this site exposes only part of the engine's capabilities. The table below groups every module and study switch into five engineering categories, and each sub-category links straight into the page where you can use it — this is a “what it can do” overview, not a marketing page. Capability is stated in three layers, none of them hidden: (1) steady-state calculation is the mainstay — load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, sizing and withstand checks; (2) on top of it the engine solves device- and event-level transients and quasi-steady sequences — transformer magnetisation inrush, series-reactor fault di/dt with core saturation, short-circuit DC-component decay, bus transfer, auto-reclosing, PV low-voltage ride-through and converter average models; (3) what is deliberately not done is listed as well — no system-wide EMT phase-by-phase simulation (PSCAD/EMTP class), no full electromechanical generator swing / rotor-angle stability process, and no numeric waveform simulation of switching or lightning overvoltages.

Capability in three layers

The same three layers are stated in the FAQ, in About US and here — one source of truth, nothing hidden.

01

Steady state — the mainstay

A real network solution, not a table lookup: load flow, IEC 60909 short circuit (three-phase, two-phase, two-phase to earth, single-phase to earth), voltage drop, equipment sizing and withstand checks, reactive compensation.

02

Time series & quasi-steady

Time-series load flow, PV time series, unbalanced time series, BESS state of charge, quasi-static controllers, Volt-VAR optimisation and N-1 transfer studies.

03

Device- and event-level transients

Series-reactor fault di/dt with core saturation, transformer magnetisation inrush, short-circuit DC-component decay, bus transfer, auto-reclosing, PV low-voltage ride-through and converter average models / VFD.

Every chip opens the page where that capability is usable.

Deliberately not done

Full system-wide EMT phase-by-phase simulation · the full electromechanical generator swing (rotor-angle) process · numeric waveforms for switching or lightning overvoltages · seconds-to-minutes phase-by-phase time-domain simulation.

Voltage stability is offered as a static margin — continuation power flow gives the P–V nose curve, the critical point and the weakest bus — not as a time-domain stability simulation. Voltage stability (continuation power flow) →

Recently added and already live

Auto-reclosing, voltage stability, protection setting / sequence check and DC short circuit are wired to real engine modules and are open now. Each one is a page you can run, not a capability statement.

The site tool index further down is the shared entry point for all of them, whether or not a page is in the left navigation yet.

Counts are computed live from the generated engine scan (capability-map.json) — they are never typed into this page.
